It is the tallest minaret in the world, a good 72 and a half meters, and it too could only be declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
The beginning of the construction dates back to the 12th century, but the works were completed only in 1230 due to the death of the sultan who had commissioned it, and whose name it bears.
The summit is different from the rest of the structure because the minaret was heavily damaged first by lightning and then by an earthquake, forcing its restoration.
